Kerrville Memorial Weekend

Uncle Nick with Elissa and Sean

We spent a long weekend in Kerrville for Memorial Day. Dave caught a bad attitude at work and took Friday off. Thursday night Grandpa and Nana Boyce got 6 inches of rain - a LOT in Kerrville. The weekend was mostly overcast, but the Kerrville Art Festival persevered - we attended on Saturday and the girls went back on Sunday. Monday we went to Austin and Grandpa and Nana Boyce stayed with Barbara to help take care of Sean while she conducted 3 days of training. Dave flew home Monday night - the first night either of us spent without Sean. Tonight we were all together again and took a family picture for the church directory.

Chilled Out Weekend

On Thursday, while Dad supervised the installation of all new windows at home, Sean and Mom hung out with Grandma Pasta in Kemah

Yes, May is Oleander Month in Galveston County

After the trip to Kemah, Sean decided to work on his leg muscles by standing by the couch. Dave and Barbara better speed up their babyproofing.

On Saturday Aunt Beth came into town (Saturday pictures are on another camera!) Here we hang out at the Cook's with Aunt Rhonda and Cami on Sunday

Aunt Darlene hung out with us, too!

Mother's Day / Art Car Weekend

Saturday we celebrated Mother's Day at the Grand Pasta's house. Barb got running gear from Dave and a sweet little bear and Lonely Planet books on Iceland and Sweden from Sean. Joanne cooked up a great meal.

Sean has taken major steps the past week. On Friday he discovered his feet! Something else to suck! He is definitely a Drool-a-Sauras. He like to try to sit up and to pretend to stand. After playing at standing he kicks for a long time. He has almost grown out of laying down in his baby bath tub - he keeps kicking his head into the back of the tub!

Saturday during the day we went to the Art Car Parade - the largest of its kind. Some 260 cars compete in various categories - click HERE to see all the pics.

Wednesday (today) was supposed to be "World of Windows" day - 12 windows equivalents and the 8' sliding glass door. By Tuesday night all the window blinds and curtains were down and furniture moved away. Sean went to Grandma Pasta's for the day. Unfortunately they were very delayed by rain from yesterday and never made it (or called us to tell us!) After that, Dave will work from home tomorrow to oversee the work and Barbara and Sean will spend the day with Grandma.

Sean is 4-Months Old!

A look back--Sean at 2-Months - see 4-month Sean in previous post.

Sean's 4-month Dr. visit went well. He is 26" long (90th%, down from 95th %), 13lbs 11ozs (30th%, down from 50th %) and his head circumference is 20th% (down from 25%) - an even taller skinnier baby.

Sean's First Fun Run

On Saturday Sean participated in his first fun run! (Well, he did do a triathlon as a fetus.) He "competed" in the Sprint for Life - MD Anderson's fund raiser for ovarian cancer research. He was, admittedly, carried, and he did sleep over half of the time - but still a first. He was joined by Mom, Grandma, Dziadziu and Aunt Joanne in honor of great aunt Kathy - an ovarian cancer survivor! Kathy (AKA "Kit" to her rebellious nieces) lives in Brevard, NC - a Wonderland of Waterfalls.

Sean goes to bed looking forward to the race (Will there be dinos there?)

They would not give Sean a number, so here he wears Grandma Pasta's

Hi Aunt Kathy! (Get away Barley...)

Should I trust this man? Do you know he's a handicapper?

Quiet Weekend

This weekend was quite quiet. Dad had a bad cold and a dual bacterial eye infection. No contact lens wearing for several days and no Sean contact - awful! Sunday dad could finally play with Sean again.

Sean's strength and hand coordination continue to increase. He has at least one gas attack daily now - Mylicon is liquid gold around here. It is amazing how quick it works - what did parents do before?

Friday we did take Sean to ISP's booth at the Galveston County Fair BBQ cook-off. Sean (and Barbara and Joanne) met several of Dave's co-workers for the first time. Apparently Dave actually appears human now that he has a child.

Saturday was slow. Sean slept all day, except at church! After church we went to The Spaghetti Warehouse - for the first time in a long time. They are owned by Consolidated Restaurant Operations - a holding company for Texas based chains.

Sean is 50% of the way to holding his own bottle!

4/24/07 Visit

On Tuesday the Pasta Grandparents helped babysit while Joanne and Barb exercised. Afterwards, it was extended family time. Joanne helped Sean search on Google and then Sean repaid her by wearing his "I love my aunt" bib.

iFest Weekend

Sunday night, Sean rests. Sean has had a few severe crying fits in the last 4 days or so. Current root cause analysis indicates a possible relationship to gas pain caused by Mom's brie consumption.

Saturday the Pasta clan went to the Houston International Festival with Darlene and Kerry. This year's focus was on China.

The group stops to listen to Jimmy LaFave. Darlene plays with the new baby and Kerry plays with his new Blackberry.

After iFest we all had dinner at Goode Company BBQ. Not bad, but just no comparison to Grand Prize in Texas City!

Sunday was a work day. Mom mowed and grocery shopped and dad worked on 52 year old home repair.

Here Sean , in the bouncer at left, supervises Dad patching old holes in the garage walls. It is now irrefutable that the house walls were painted maroon and the eaves pistachio before the current beige color. Wow! Eeeewww!

Sean starting a crunch. He did his first (witnessed) sit-up last week reaching for his "Quarter Horse", below. Today at Mass he spent most of the time trying to sit-up. We sat with the Johnson's - Abagail was very helpful in keeping Sean's pacifier in place.

Dziadziu Pasta won the Quarter Horse in an online horse betting (handicapping) contest with Delta Downs. It is a bank, and when money is inserted it moves and makes horse sounds.

Woodlands Weekend

Barley finally accepted her new shared life with Sean. Sean, at this point, oblivious. What cat?

Sean has had a busy developmental week. He made peace with the fact that he has "hands" attached to "arms" that are under his control! In fact, he can use the hands and arms to push his pacifier back into his mouth! Sean also started doing sit-ups in his child seat, trying to reach objects in his lap. He also tries to grab things, with limited success. Glasses and hair watch out!

Elissa finally winds down Saturday night

Sunday the Pasta family went to the Woodlands Waterway Art Festival. Over 200 booths on the relatively new waterway. Beautiful! Except for visible construction the photos look to me like artist's renderings. We spent several hours at the festival and then walked through Market Street. The area as a whole is an impressive venue.

The Woodlands was started by a Federal program to create urban centers outside of large cities. It was the only successful project in the program and only took off after George Mitchell bought it in 1974. Mitchell is a very successful oil and gas explorer who went on to conduct major revitalization projects in his native Galveston.
